(New York, NY) October 21, 2009 BLACK ENTERPRISE, the premier wealth building resource for African Americans, along with Bank of America, have launched the 2009 Black Enterprise Homeownership Contest, which will award one lucky winner $10,000 toward the purchase of their first home. Entries are being accepted now at www.BlackEnterprise.com/HomeownershipContest, where you can also find informative and inspirational updates on past winners and get educated on responsible homeownership with great advice from experts.
Now in its fifth year, the Black Enterprise Homeownership Contest serves as a call to action in encouraging African Americans to take that step toward successful, responsible homeownership. The day our winner closes on their mortgage and is handed the keys to their house is a day that will never be forgotten, says BLACK ENTERPRISE founder and publisher Earl G. Graves Sr. I still remember the day my father moved our family into our first home, having worked several jobs to make it happen. Buying a home is step one. The sacrifice and financial discipline it takes to curtail spending, pare down debt, build a good credit score, and save toward the down payment lays the foundation for a lifetime of wealth building.
The key to winning is filling out the application completely and, most importantly, presenting a compelling story that will motivate the masses. When people start taking steps toward homeownership—even if they find out they cant purchase a home at that moment—they learn what they need to improve and, through diligence, are able to achieve the American dream, says Alfred Edmond Jr., Editor-in-Chief, BlackEnterprise.com.
Applicants may enter the 2009 Homeownership Contest at www.BlackEnterprise.com/Homeownership or by mailing a request for an application with a self-addressed, stamped envelope to Black Enterprise, 130 Fifth Avenue, 10th Floor, New York, NY 10011, Attn: Homeownership Contest. Official Entry Forms and required attachments may be submitted through Friday, November 6, 2009, 5:00 p.m. EST. electronically, by mail to the above address, or via fax to (212) 886-9633. Any other attempt at entry is void.
